Managed detection and response with integrated Security Operations Centre (SOC)
Most organisations have detection capabilities, but few have the analyst depth, detection engineering maturity, and the structured response processes to act on it consistently, at any time. You get alerts to say something happened, but it doesn’t tell you whether it matters, what the attacker did next or how your team needs to respond.
Baidam’s managed detection and response (MDR) service combines continuous 24/7 security monitoring, human-led threat investigation and structured containment and response. These are delivered from our Security Operations Centre. We document and map every detection, triage decision and response action to your compliance frameworks. Our monitoring generates compliance evidence, not just a queue of alerts.
Baidam's MDR services operate as part of an integrated security programme, not a standalone detection tool sitting outside your environment’s context.

Managed detection and response without internal overhead
Managed detection and response combines technology, human expertise and a structured process to continuously detect, investigate, and respond to threats across an organisation's environment. It’s delivered as a managed service, so your organisation doesn’t need to build an in-house SOC capability.
Organisations choose MDR services for a specific reason: access to specialist detection engineering and analyst capability without the cost and lead time of building and staffing an in-house SOC.
At Maturity Level 2 and above under the Essential Eight, threat detection and response capability requirements exceed what most organisations can sustain internally. Baidam’s MDR provides a defined service model, measurable MTTD and MTTR outcomes, and compliance documentation that serves your audit function directly.
How is MDR different from basic SIEM alerting?
A SIEM generates alerts when activity matches a rule. MDR adds an analyst layer of triage, context enrichment, severity classification, and active response. This layer determines if an alert represents a genuine threat, a misconfigured rule, or a harmless anomaly. Without MDR, your team constantly gets alerts without knowing which issues are critical and need to be addressed first. Baidam’s MDR services cover both threat detection and response capabilities for a complete service.
Managed detection and response model with defined inputs, outputs and actions
Baidam offers a repeatable, operational MDR services model that generates evidence across six structured phases, each with a defined input, output and documented actions.
Below are the six phases of our model:
1
Ingest
Continuous collection and normalisation of log, endpoint, network, identity, and cloud data across your environment, aggregated into Baidam's managed SIEM for correlation. Baidam detects gaps in log coverage, so you get a higher quality of detection.
2
Detect
Tuned detection rules, threat intelligence integration, and behavioural analytics work against the ingested data to surface genuine threats and reduce false positive volume. We tune the rules with the most up-to-date threat intelligence, as your environment evolves.
3
Investigate
Baidam analysts review every escalated alert - classifying severity, enriching context from additional data sources, and confirming whether activity represents a genuine threat or a false positive. The analyst layer is what prevents your team from responding to noise.
4
Contain
Confirmed threats trigger immediate containment actions that are coordinated with your team within defined approval thresholds. Isolation of affected endpoints, suspension of compromised accounts, and blocking of malicious activity are executed to limit the window between detection and containment. We begin MTTR here, not at remediation.
5
Respond
Baidam provides structured remediation guidance and, where scope requires it, escalates to a full incident response engagement within the same SOC team. Post-containment validation confirms the threat has been fully addressed, not just isolated.
6
Report
Structured reporting covers MTTD and MTTR metrics, detection trend analysis, incident timelines, and compliance documentation. Reports are structured for your security operations team and compliance audit function.
Single detection model with 24/7 SOC monitoring
Detection that covers one or two adversary surfaces misses the others. Baidam's cyber security monitoring covers your organisation’s full technology stack, under a single detection model, within a single team.

Here’s what we cover:
Endpoint telemetry
Process activity, lateral movement indicators, LOLBAS execution, and credential harvesting behaviour are drawn from managed EDR agent data across your scoped endpoint fleet.
Identity and access events
Authentication failures at volume, privilege escalation attempts, impossible travel, and Kerberos-based attack indicators are monitored across Active Directory, Entra ID, and identity provider logs.
Cloud workload monitoring
Configuration changes, access anomalies, API activity, storage access patterns, and IAM permission modifications across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Misconfigurations and access abuse are the dominant attack vectors in cloud environments, and they rarely trigger endpoint or network alerts.
SIEM log correlation
All ingested data is aggregated and correlated using tuned detection rules. Cross-source correlation is what makes multi-stage attack patterns visible.
Threat intelligence integration
Known indicators of compromise, current adversary campaign TTPs, and emerging threat actor tooling are applied against your telemetry. Behavioural detection surfaces suspicious activity. Threat intelligence applies known indicators and adversary TTPs against your telemetry, adding a further layer of detection coverage.

MDR services aligned to Australian compliance frameworks
Continuous monitoring is both a security capability and a compliance requirement for highly regulated organisations. The frameworks your organisation is accountable to have specific, increasingly detailed threat detection and response obligations.
Baidam's MDR is structured to meet them operationally and generate the documentation that demonstrates compliance to your auditors and assessors.

Framework
How Baidam's MDR Addresses it
ISM
ASD's ISM requires continuous monitoring and incident detection for government systems, not just logging capability. Baidam's MDR lifecycle maps directly to the monitoring and detection controls required for government-hosted systems, and generates the documented detection and response records that ISM compliance reviews need.
Essential Eight
MDR supports Detect and Respond maturity uplift across Maturity Level 2 and 3, covering application control monitoring, patching validation, and incident response readiness. The distinction assessors focus on at ML2 and above is between detection controls that are configured and those that are actively and continuously applied. Baidam's MDR reporting provides the operational evidence of both.
ISO 27001
Baidam's MDR generates continuous audit evidence for Annex A.12 (operations security — monitoring and logging) and A.16 (incident management). Detection records, incident timelines, MTTD and MTTR metrics, and response documentation are structured and accessible for certification and surveillance audits without requiring your team to produce additional artefacts.
NIST CSF
Baidam's MDR lifecycle maps directly to the Detect function (DE.CM continuous monitoring, DE.AE anomalies and events) and the Respond function (RS.RP response planning, RS.MI mitigation). Structured reporting provides evidence across both functional areas in a format your risk committee can review.
Security of Critical Infrastructure Act
For organisations in the 11 critical infrastructure sectors, the SOCI Act imposes detection and notification obligations for cyber incidents. Baidam's 24/7 monitoring supports timely detection and provides the structured incident timeline documentation required for notification obligations under the Act, with all data and analysis remaining onshore.
Baidam's MDR does not require a separate compliance reporting workflow. Both compliance and operational activities occur in the same cycle.
Why choose Baidam for managed detection and response in government and enterprise
Baidam leads with a methodology combining technology and human analysts, instead of only platform features.
What we offer:
05
Government-credentialed
Baidam holds the TMRICTSOA25180 whole-of-government ICT sourcing panel appointment and is represented across state and federal procurement frameworks, accessible to government agencies without additional approval processes
04
Measurable outcomes
We measure MTTD, MTTR, detection trends, and compliance documentation, not alert counts. The metrics that matter to your security operations team and your board are the ones Baidam reports against.
03
Integrated operations
MDR works alongside Managed EDR, SIEM as a Service, VMaaS, and Incident Response under the same SOC team. Pre-existing environment knowledge means faster, more accurate triage. An analyst who manages your SIEM detects anomalies against a baseline they already understand
02
Not tool-dependent
Baidam's MDR is a methodology-led service that works alongside your existing technology stack. We don’t rip-and-replace your stack. Baidam's detection engineers onboard your current environment, map coverage gaps, and build detection logic around what your organisation runs.
01
Sovereign Australian delivery
Your detection telemetry is handled and analysed by onshore Australian analysts and stays in Australia. Baidam doesn’t route operations or data offshore or share data with third parties.
06
Indigenous-owned and profit-for-purpose
Baidam is Australia's first Indigenous-owned cybersecurity firm and Supply Nation Certified, contributing over $3.2M in social and economic value to First Nations communities. The amount we reinvest into STEM education and career pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples grows with every engagement.

Managed detection and response FAQs
Read commonly asked questions and answers about MDR services, coverage and compliance.
MDR is a service focused on a specific detection and response capability set. It includes continuous threat monitoring, alert triage, and coordinated response.
A managed SOC describes the broader operational function that MDR sits within, potentially including threat hunting, vulnerability management, incident response, and security engineering.
Baidam’s MDR is a capability within the managed SOC model, alongside threat hunting, SIEM management, and incident response. The benefit is that MDR detections are actioned by analysts who have full visibility of your environment across all services, not just the telemetry visible to a standalone detection platform.
Coverage isn’t limited to a specific vendor stack. Baidam's MDR covers endpoints (Windows, macOS, Linux), network infrastructure, identity and access management systems (Active Directory, Entra ID, Okta), cloud workloads (AWS, Azure, GCP), and application logs, correlated within a managed SIEM environment.
Onboarding includes a coverage mapping exercise that explicitly identifies which data sources are in scope, which are not, and what the detection gap implications are for each missing source.
Essential Eight Maturity Level 2 and above requires active, continuous monitoring for anomalous activity, not just the presence of detection controls.
Baidam's MDR demonstrates that the detection controls are in place, and the operational records demonstrate that they are actively applied.
MDR also supports Essential Eight maturity assessment by surfacing detection gaps - the specific log sources, control areas, and monitoring blind spots that prevent maturity progression. Each identified gap becomes a prioritised action in your uplift roadmap.
Baidam’s escalation process initiates within one hour of validation for critical findings and confirmed high-severity threats.
Containment actions are coordinated with your team within defined approval thresholds. The exact timelines for your environment are agreed upon during onboarding and documented in your service agreement.
No. Baidam can onboard your environment from either a greenfield position or integrate with existing tooling. If you have a SIEM or EDR already deployed, Baidam's detection engineers assess the existing configuration, identify tuning requirements, and extend coverage as needed.
If you don’t, Baidam's SIEM as a Service and Managed EDR provide the telemetry foundation that MDR operates on, deployed and managed within the same service engagement.
